Svolgono praticamente tutti i processi cellulari. <\/p><p data-start=\"241\" data-end=\"357\"><strong data-start=\"241\" data-end=\"355\">Affinch\u00e9 possano funzionare correttamente, le proteine devono ripiegarsi in specifiche strutture tridimensionali (3D).<\/strong><\/p><p data-start=\"364\" data-end=\"1018\">Le proteine sono spesso definite le \u201cmacchine della vita\u201d, perch\u00e9 sono macchine molecolari indispensabili che svolgono quasi tutte le funzioni all\u2019interno delle cellule. Agiscono come motori, molecole di segnalazione, pompe, trasportatori, enzimi e componenti strutturali che mantengono in vita gli organismi \u2014 dal movimento muscolare alla replicazione del DNA.<br\/>La loro funzione dipende dalla precisione della forma e del movimento. Costruiscono strutture, catalizzano reazioni, trasportano sostanze come l\u2019ossigeno (emoglobina), combattono le infezioni e costruiscono persino altre macchine proteiche, come i ribosomi, creando la complessa rete che governa ogni organismo vivente.   <\/p><p data-start=\"1025\" data-end=\"1052\"><strong data-start=\"1025\" data-end=\"1050\">Cosa fanno le proteine:<\/strong><\/p><p data-start=\"1059\" data-end=\"1185\"><strong data-start=\"1059\" data-end=\"1072\">Movimento<\/strong>: Le proteine motorie permettono la contrazione muscolare, mentre altre alimentano i flagelli responsabili del movimento cellulare.<\/p><p data-start=\"1192\" data-end=\"1377\"><strong data-start=\"1192\" data-end=\"1220\">Trasporto e immagazzinamento<\/strong>: Trasportano nutrienti (come l\u2019ossigeno) e immagazzinano sostanze vitali; le proteine di membrana pompano ioni e nutrienti all\u2019interno e fuori dalle cellule.<\/p><p data-start=\"1384\" data-end=\"1579\"><strong data-start=\"1384\" data-end=\"1415\">Complessi mitocondriali<\/strong>: Piccole proteine assemblano la catena di trasporto degli elettroni nei mitocondri, regolando cos\u00ec la produzione di energia e la risposta alle esigenze cellulari.<\/p><p data-start=\"1586\" data-end=\"1668\"><strong data-start=\"1586\" data-end=\"1599\">Struttura<\/strong>: Le proteine formano l\u2019impalcatura di cellule e tessuti (ad esempio il collagene).<\/p><p data-start=\"1675\" data-end=\"1797\"><strong data-start=\"1675\" data-end=\"1697\">Catalisi (enzimi)<\/strong>: Accelerano reazioni chimiche vitali, costituiti da proteine, producono altre proteine seguendo le istruzioni
